Discuss: This is a group of advocates
riding for a cause!
Please remember that, especially this year, the ride was made up mostly of climate change advocates riding bicycles to promote their cause, not a just a group of cyclists riding for a cause. This is different then an MS ride or the like. Keep this in consideration when pushing riders to get to a destination by 5pm for dinner (when it doesn't get dark until 7) and when planning the routes. There were a number of advocates new to riding and those new to riding such long distances with hills. Plan accordingly and treat all the riders as such, not as the avid cyclists that the route and plans suggested.
Also, treat us llike adults: This was supposed to be fun and community building and I felt, at times, that I was a camper with a bunch of camp counselors telling me how and when to do things. I understand all of the liabilities and all that went into the planning, but a number of us felt rushed to be somewhere at a certain time, like the day was only planned around the speakers (which, really, were unnecessary).
